Our Story

FlowPure Filtration

Committed to supporting the well-being of both you and your loved ones, one refreshing moment at a time.

The Beginning

We come from an era when the only way to invite friends to play outside was by knocking on their doors. In retrospect, it seems our journey with water may have begun as far back as then. Do you recall being offered a glass of water by a friend's parents, cheeks flushed from running around the playground? We do. We also remember the subtle differences in taste from the tap water in various high-rise buildings across London. Aside from the water at home, my twin brother and I found everything else— except for bottled water—to be distinctly inferior in flavour. In hindsight, there was probably very little difference in the actual water. If I knew what I know now, I would have known that the age, quality, and cleanliness of our piping affected water taste.

The Real Problems Began

University was the first time we had spent any significant time away from our home in Greenwich. Our obsession with drinking bottled water had manifested itself through necessity. The taste of the water at uni was infused with metallic flavour. Regardless of the weather, there would be a warmth to the water. Despite the placebo that our home tap water was any better, we decided that bottled water would be a necessary expense.

At university both my brother and I played sports, we also spent much time at the student union at night. Needless to say, the combination of sports and alcohol meant water being an essential dehydration combatant. Between the two of us we would consume at least 12 litres daily. The cost of bottled water, at the time, meant a £25 per week expenditure. In today's calculation, that would be more like £42 - if that was Evian, more like £78. The price was one issue, the second was the carrying of so many bottles of water on our weekly shop. We found the need to attend the supermarket more than twice a week, every week, for three years.

We had used skin cream our entire lives, it was part of our daily routine adopted in our household. My brother was especially fastidious when it came to his routine. He had always been the better looking, albeit the less intelligent (wink). But, his skin was negatively affected by the water hardness at our university. His face developed a bad case of eczema which was only relieved during the summer when we returned home. The combination of good skin creams, which were expensive, and a whole house water filtering system at our parents, was his saviour.

Our Solution

Not every household has the financial capability to afford a whole house water filtering system. We were lucky, but of course, we would not stay at our parents home for the rest of our lives. Flowpure is a representation of our personal research endurance, and passion. Socioeconomic factors should not determine ones ability to consume, or wash, with clean water. Yet, unfortunately, there is substantial research to suggest that it does. From the US to the UK, two countries with considerable combined wealth, there is problems with water. The water delivered to many homes can be contaminated at the source, or through poor piping systems. With so many correlations to skin conditions, neurological issues, and overall health an answer was needed.

Our research into personal water improvement at end user level has shown significant costing, and little information. For most of us, reading about RO machines, reverse osmosis, and under-sink can be a chore. The R2D2-like references to names of machines can be confusing, as well as annoying. Our years of research has culminated in identifying one key factor: Most people did not have an obsession with water or university time to research every machine out there. Paradoxically, one would much prefer not to drink water with lead or arsenic too.

We wanted to develop a product that was simple, quick to install, and affordable enough for all households. We believe that this is what the product line at Flowpure will represent. A business founded on the premise of our own personal journey, and struggles. The expense for countries to revolutionise water delivery systems is seldom actualised. We believe that everyone has the right to use clean water in their homes. A child should not have to endure eczema due to the lack of quality in water that a family can afford to use, or an institution will provide.
